Spending time with Him……

Posted in Thoughts from the Heart

Life is so busy; our minds can become cluttered with everyday worries and concerns. I am so guilty of not carving out time to focus on Him and pray. I use to believe that you have to speak a certain language or be at a certain level in your walk for it to be effective.  The greatest thing about God is the He meets us where we are in our life. No matter your age, title, gender, past experiences or any excuse that we can come up with that makes us feel disconnected to Him, He hears us, our heart. Being discipline on carving out time and praying or writing in a prayer journal can be intimidating but should be something we strive for. You can take ten minutes in the shower or on your way to work/school and just talk to Him. We are building or growing a relationship with God, communication is a big factor. Just like we have relationships with people. You have to invest time in each other, talk to each other. That special someone or spouse wants to connect to you on an emotional and spiritual level. That makes them feel closer to you. Same aspect with God. Another example would be if you and your best friend have a “saying or inside joke” that shows time has been spent together. God wants the same “inside” confirmation that you two have spent time together. That also makes us feel good knowing that what we talked to him about, He listened and showed us that He is there.

Scriptures to reference. Matthew 6:33, Psalms 46:10

Self Reflect for the New Year!

Posted in Thoughts from the Heart
on January 1, 2017

On my Instagram  @Abundanceofbeautee I posted a quote about self-reflection and how it is a humbling experience. That quote gave me the idea to sit down and think about some of my ups and downs that I have experienced this year. Also to be honest with myself and see where I need to improve and what I need to let go. Here are some questions you should ponder when you self-reflect:

What were your high points of the year?

Low points?

What can you do to change your low points in the next year?

What do you wish you would have done in the past year?

Is there anything you should let go of to move forward in the next year?

Are you praying more and forgiving quickly? ( good one!)

These are just a few, and you can add more if you wish depending on your situation. A big one for me is completing everything I have started, and it includes upgrading my blog and bring in more traffic. Honestly, I haven’t really promoted this blog as some people would prefer but I wanted this blog to be an inspiration to people and not to focus on the number of subscribers but to be a blessing to them as well as share some of the things that I love such as fashion and makeup. Let us be positive in the next year and do great things!!!

What……. Now????!!! ( Not the movie)

This post is for my dreamers and planners. Have you ever just sat in silence or avoid sitting in silence and asking yourself ” what now?”. I am the one that avoids that question because it brings out so many emotions that I don’t want to deal with and it causes me unnecessary stress. But it is good to look at where you are in life and how you would like to go forward. Now for the people who worry or panic (me) don’t look at it from the “Oh my God, I haven’t done enough or I am not where I would like to be”frame of mind. Let’s be positive and open, Shacara. Yeah, so this is for me. I can get caught up in where everyone is or seem to be in their lives, thanks to our wonderful social media world. I feel it is necessary to unplug from social media from time to time to make personal connections. Falling into the pit of sorrow because of where we are now can cause you to be ungrateful for what you have or accomplished so far. Yes, it’s great to want more, and you should try to better yourself as a person but don’t let it drive you there. Instead, look at what you have done and how to keep it going. I am big on making lists and let us not talk about how many planners I own. And yes I know you can only use it one at a time. I buy them because I would like to be prepared and to stay organized. I feel like once you organize your stuff, then your mind will be clear of clutter. It is hard to remember everything especially as a mom, wife, student as I am where your kids are active outside of school and you have a laundry  list of things to do at home. Consider having quiet time to yourself, like in the mornings before you start your day and meditate, pray, and read. To me, that makes for setting up your to be positive and with a clear mind. You may have dreamed of having a great career with a big house and maybe a few kids by now and you don’t. It is okay and it can still happen if you have faith and put in work. Some just want to do what they love and the money they make is just a plus (me), have great people around who are encouraging, truly loves you for who you are (big one) and working towards a better lifestyle. And having a better lifestyle looks different depending on their situation. As I get older it is not about all the bells and whistles of life (i.e big houses, cars, diamonds, vacations), it’s about doing what makes you happy and pleasing to your heart. Yes, you are going to go through trials and tribulations but you have to keep pressing on. Hope this encouraged someone who needs it, I feel better getting this off my chest.

Blessings

For those of you who don’t know who this woman is,her name is Sarah Jakes Roberts (@sarahjakesroberts) she is the daughter of Bishop T.D. Jakes, wife of Toure Roberts who is the pastor of One Church LA and so much more. I learned about her story back when she had her series on Youtube when her book Lost & Found was launching. She is so real, humble, and has the heart for God and His people. She makes you feel like no matter how screwed up I think my life is, I can still be a vessel for God, and He still loves me in spite of my wrong doings. Some of the thoughts you may have as far as wanting more from God and needing to get close to Him, she brings all your thoughts to the forefront and reassures you on who He is. I love how she teaches and love the person she is. If this clip is not for you, it is okay; maybe you can pass it on to someone in need.
